In the wake of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that took the lives of 17 Florida students and educators, the 2018 Florida Legislature passed and the Governor signed SB 7026, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. This legislation outlines significant reforms to make Florida schools safer, while keeping firearms out of the hands of mentally ill and dangerous individuals.

User Roles

All staff members are keys to our safety and success with Intrado SafetyShield. Each and every member is a stakeholder and a critical player in the safety landscape.

To continue in this course, choose the role that you have been assigned from the options below.

Principal/Campus Administrator: This role has full access to Intrado SafetyShield and oversees the configuration of the app for the school They are also responsible for acknowledging a threat and escalating it to the appropriate agency.
Teacher User: Teachers are our front-line users. They can be located anywhere on campus when a threat arises. Teachers initiate an emergency notification using the app or by dialing 911. They will receive detailed instructions from the moment the threat is reported until the final moments of resolution.
Staff User: Many staff members are also on the front-line users but many are in a back office, cafeteria or other locations in the school that are isolated. They, too can be located anywhere on campus when a threat arises. Staff members can initiate an emergency notification using the app or by dialing 911. They will receive detailed instructions from the moment the threat is reported until the final moments of resolution.
SRO: Security Officers on campus take a lead role in any emergency and are integral to the setup of the campus emergency plan.
